Death of Centuries
"Memorial"
What is Death of Centuries?
Death of Centuries, as the band name, stands for what we think will eventually be the undoing of our species/culture the world over, due to overpopulation, dictatorial governments, governments stealing our rights, and eventually a world war that seems like it is being planned as we go, to wipe out the population of the planet down to reasonable levels, or all together, off the planet.
If through the "prophecies" laid out in the bible, or by our own hand using nuclear weapons, comes to pass, the last two thousand years will have been in vain, but we all feel that on some level, we deserve it.
There is still racism, prejudice, slavery, corruption, back room deals, war profiteering, invasions of other countries, and the constant fight for natural resources, and let's not forget the simple fact that it would seem that all cultures have someone they hate, regardless of the reasons, and the simple fact is we haven't all learned to get along even after two thousand and ten years.
Is it going to change?
Perhaps.
Are we all capable of making that change happen without violence.
It's possible.
Are we all smart enough as a world community to accept the responsibility of what we are doing to the Earth?
To each other in the process?
It is also possible.
But, if in the end, we all die in either form of "The Apocalypse", at this point, don't we all deserve it?
All except the innocent, which would be any children under the age of 9, I would think. By 9 years old, I knew what it was to have someone be cruel to me, and learned that I had the same capacity, but forbear.
So woe to those under the age of 9. Hopefully, if there is a God, he/she will deem your soul salvageable.
To all the rest, let us hope we have made peace in our hearts before we face our creator.

Photograph
This is one of the many songs going on this album. It is titled Photograph due to all the old WWII photographs I see in our drummer Chris' house of his dad. It is an homage to all those who died in WWII and all the other wars fought by those brave a valiant men of days long gone. The album will be covering the life of a single man and his family, and the life he leads from 6 years old when we jump into his life, to when he is near death at the age of 70, or so.
In this song, he is 6, his family friends and relatives are all there at a funeral, and he is so young and confused about what's going on. He has some shred of comprehension because he sees everyone around him crying, but he still doesn't understand the fact that the coffin (closed, mind you) contains the remains of a father whom he will never see again. So he wanders around in a hazy cloud of confusion. There are no lyrics in with the music right now, but they will be added to the music mix soon enough.
The chorus goes like this,
"Why'd you have to go away, Dad?
All the friends and family seem so sad.
All that's left for Mom is a folded flag,
And all that's left for me, is your Photograph!"
Then there is a response, from beyond the grave, by the father, but I don't want to reveal it yet. It will come when the vocals are recorded. Until then, let us know what you think of the song itself.
